What it is
When memory runs out, macOS moves less-used memory to disk (swap). This sets that space up.
Why it might be busy
Memory is short and macOS is swapping. Usually until memory pressure eases.
If you stop it
macOS starts it again straight away. Leave it.
The verdict
○ Leave it. Part of macOS, or something that starts again by itself. You never need to close these.
